Can I tan indoors if I have seasonal affective disorder?

Tanning & Seasonal Affective Disorder

There is mounting evidence that phototherapy, also known as heliotherapy or light therapy, can provide symptom relief to people who suffer from the seasonal affective disorder. While some people receive light therapy in their doctor's office or at home using a specially designed light box, for those who cannot afford it or simply prefer to use an indoor tanning salon, indoor tanning can be a good alternative. Since seasonal affective disorder is a serious condition that involves depression, you should always consult with your physician or therapist before undertaking light therapy on your own.
